Solution Helps Companies Authenticate Employees for Time and Attendance Functions
(Madison, WI - April 2, 2001)—Biocentric Solutions Incorporated will premiere and demonstrate their CombiMemory™ authentication technology for time and attendance applications at next week's Comdex Chicago Show, April 3-5. These state-of-the-art applications will help companies combat payroll fraud through the use of sophisticated, new fingerprint authentication technology that can be easily and inexpensively retrofitted (or upgraded) into an organization's existing time and attendance systems.
Biocentric Solution's new CombiMemory application is designed to eliminate the fraudulent payroll practice of “buddy punching” where employees punch timecards for associates who are not at work. Specifically, their solution eliminates this problem by requiring that employees verify their identity before accessing timekeeping systems. Employees simply insert a memory card containing digitized portions of their fingerprints and other digitized data into a reading device and press a finger on the device's fingerprint sensor, which reads the print and compares it to the data encrypted on the card.
In addition to cutting costs associated with employee timecard fraud, the solution protects employee privacy and eliminates the risk that computer hackers can steal fingerprint images since user fingerprints are not stored in a company database. The information is stored only on the card. The system also eliminates much of the paperwork and manual processes associated with traditional payroll timecard functions. The CombiMemory device can be a part of an enterprise network or act as a stand-alone unit allowing for remote site applications.
