Technology further enhances the C·CURE® Smart Program
(BOCA RATON, Fla. - August 17, 2001)—Sensormatic Electronics Corporation (NYSE:SRM) today announced that it has partnered with Biocentric Solutions Inc. to provide biometric solutions that can be integrated with its security management system. Biocentric Solutions' biometric reader, called the CombiSmart®, further strengthens Sensormatic's previously announced C·CURE Smart Program, which allows smart card users to seamlessly integrate smart card and biometric technology with Sensormatic's access control solutions.
The CombiSmart reader uses encrypted fingerprint data, which is stored on a smart card, and matches it against a person's fingerprint when presented to the reader. When the smart card is inserted, the CombiSmart reads the information and compares it to a fingerprint that is imaged on the reader finger pad. Confirmation of a match is indicated on the unit's display window providing a higher level of security than what is available with card technology alone.

The C·CURE Smart Program allows building occupants to carry a single card for access control and all their other smart card applications including transit fare collection, electronic purse, loyalty card, library card and logical computer system access.
